Welcome Friends!

"The more we get together the happier we'll be"

Tuesday

7 February

The children love tools.  They love making things happen. They like to see what happens when they do this, or when they do that. They are very interested in these shaped hole punchers. They have worked with them every day since I got them out almost a week ago.  The lever on each machine requires the children to use all of their strength to cut through the paper. I love watching their determination: the way those little hands carefully find the slot for the edge of the paper to slide into... it is pure magic.

Outside we checked for eggs in the coop, and worked in the garden.
When we let the chickens out of the coop and fed them scraps, Gelda made a dash for the barn, up to her special nest on top of the bales of hay.  Those are all her eggs-- from the last few days.  All of the other hens just lay in the nesting boxes in the coop.  Gelda is her own kind of lady.  You can't tell in the picture, but her eggs are  green!!!
